Abstract

Abstract: One of the problems of the teaching of binomials with common terms in Mexico, is the lack of application of didactic methods that allow students to relate the subjects to reality, often remaining in the abstract. From the theory of realistic mathematical education, this work proposes the creation of a mobile application (app) that allows students to relate in a visual and spatial way, the value of an unknown with a specific length, which enhances the extrapolation of elementary arithmetic operations to basic algebraic operations, such as the multiplication of binomials with a common term. Then according to the educational software engineering, an agile software development methodology is selected, considering for the scope of this work the first three stages (analysis, design and development). Then the characteristics of the modules of the app and the design of the educational activity called "Product of binomials" are detailed. As part of the design of the app, the importance of active and collaborative learning is considered through the instrumentation of the CUVIMA educational model and a computational communication model.
