Abstract

The concept of function is one of the most studied and controversial mathematical concepts from the historical, epistemological, educational and mathematical perspectives. Indeed, reports on the problem of student acquisition are numerous and frequent. This should not seem strange, given that this concept has had centuries of anticipations and consequently has had in its development several definitions that extend the previous versions and it is even considered that its definition is still in evolution. In this article we present a didactic proposal to introduce the concept of function, making an analogy with the basic knowledge of literacy and of the basic principles of a didactic proposal we propose, activities that we consider will help to promote a better understanding.
