Abstract

In this paper the complex and abstract concept of vector is introduced in a dosed way, from its interpretation in physics as an arrow with direction, magnitude, sense and point of application, up to be an element of an abstract vector space. This presentation establishes a certain didactic route that allows to present some essential concepts of linear algebra. As it is known the concept of vector and vector space are not simple, but we can build examples or models, interesting, illustrative, accessible and surprising. However, in the process of abstraction and generalization, it is gained and lost. The context, the geometric interpretation, the simplicity of the operations and others that appear in the specific cases are lost, but unity and breadth in the field of action of the concept is gained. In no way do we intend that the concept of a vector can be comprehensively understood with what is presented here. There are too many facets to be known, and these appear again and again in the study of the different branches of mathematics and the relationships of it with the other sciences in truly.
