Didactic proposal for a student-centered differential calculus course for administrative economics

Abstract

Students’ lifestyle and society in general has changed a lot in the last few years because of many factors like globalization and the progress of technology. It’s very important to change our academic speech as professors so that the student may acquire a significant learning. In this work we discuss about the final product from a differential calculus course at bachelor’s degree, implemented in the first semester in the common area at the Centro Universitario de Ciencias Económico Administrativas of the University of Guadalajara. The course is focused in the student, and the concept of function is the main protagonist. In the final product, the student, by mathematic modeling, builds functions from real data with the purpose of obtaining significant learnings.
